The close clock
Every month closes on a timetable you can read before you sign up.
| Your files are in by the 5th | Your month is ready by the 15th. On Managed and Profit Review a bookkeeper signs it then. On Books and Insights it is ready for you to approve, and it closes when you approve it. |
|---|---|
| Files arrive later, or something is missing | The close is on hold, and it is done within seven business days of us having everything (on Books and Insights, ready for you to approve within seven business days). |
| If we cannot make the date | You hear it from us by the 12th, not on the 15th. |
What counts as a day
Business days are weekdays, less US federal holidays and any days we have marked closed. Dates are set on Los Angeles time. A date we have promised you is never moved later because we added a closed day afterwards.
What we send
An email when questions are waiting, a note if your files are incomplete, and, when your files are complete after a hold, an email with the date your books will close (on Books and Insights, the date your books are ready for you to approve). A final notice goes out two business days before the close is due if questions are still open. The emails carry no amounts and no transaction detail, only a link to your account.
If questions are still open
If a month is closed with open questions, the report says so.
When you approve your own month
When we count how many months were ready on time, a month you approve yourself counts as on time if it was ready for you to approve by its date.
